Root Canal Therapy
A cracked tooth or a deep cavity can be the cause of extreme pain and discomfort. Root Canal therapy is a treatment that will alleviate the pain and repair the tooth. This process involves removing the pulp and nerves from the tooth and cleaning the infected portion.
If you are experiencing extreme tooth pain, a root canal may be the treatment you need. Common symptoms include: tooth pain while chewing, pain that wakes you up while sleeping, sensitivity to hot or cold, discoloration or darkening of the tooth and swollen gums.
At Meridian Dental Center, the root canal process begins by making an opening into the pump chamber and removing the pulp. Once the area is cleaned, the dentist will decide if the root canal can be finished or if it will take multiple visits. If more than one visit is required a temporary filling will be placed over the tooth.
