Replace Missing Teeth with Dental Implants
While dental implants are more popular than ever, many patients are still hesitant to choose dental implants as a tooth replacement option because they do not understand the process. At Meridian Dental Center we strive to help each of our patients become fully educated in any elective procedure before committing. Learn more about dental implants below.
The dental implant process has 4 main components: the consultation, placements, osseointegration and the final application of replacement teeth.
Before beginning the dental implant process, patients are invited for an initial consultation. During this consultation, our doctor will discuss your health history and determine whether you are a dental implant candidate.
Dental Implant Surgery
If you are a candidate for dental implants, you will be scheduled for implant placement. During the surgery, a space will be created in your dental bone to allow room for the titanium implants to be placed. Your gums will then be closes and a temporary solution (crowns, bridges or dentures) will be placed.
During this period, the titanium roots placed during the dental implant surgery will begin to integrate into your jawbone. This process can take a few months, but will build a strong foundation for your new teeth.
Once the titanium roots have fused with your jawbone your porcelain teeth will be placed onto the roots. The implants themselves are hollow screws upon which the posts are placed.
Once the above 4 steps are complete, your smile transformation is complete!
